Job Summary:

Panelmatic is seeking a detail-oriented candidate experienced as a Senior Electrical Engineer and CAD Metal Building Software Designer. The Senior MBS Designer is a professional who uses MBS CAD software to create, edit, and modify detailed 2D and 3D drawings for electrical equipment and metal building system components and assemblies, per client specifications. The role involves designing and implementing complex utility-grade, industrial, commercial, and domestic electrical power systems.

Job Duties:

  • Create initial drawing packages for the estimating department during the proposal phase.
  • Design, maintain, implement, and improve electrical instruments, components, and equipment.
  • Lead engineering and project management efforts on assigned projects, coordinating disciplines to achieve cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure engineering work is completed on schedule, meets quality standards, and adheres to budgets and deliverables.
  • Review project schedules and progress with clients regularly, keeping management informed of issues.
  • Ensure the quality of engineering execution and deliverables.
  • Mentor team members, develop training materials, and conduct seminars.
  • Develop and maintain client relations.
  • Prepare electrical documents, including scope of work, specifications, data sheets, equipment selection, and drawings for low to medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Lead inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for relay panels, power distribution centers, and remote instrumentation enclosures.
  • Maintain understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and industry practices.
  • Review estimates to confirm technical offerings.
  • Create engineering drawings and shop packages using Metal Building Software (MBS) according to client specifications.
  • Maintain CAD standards and templates for MBS.
  • Learn and implement electrical equipment building structures, client-specific equipment needs, and building design standards, including NEC where applicable.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and plans.
  • Produce accurate drawings efficiently and independently.
  • Evaluate design for constructability and manufacturing ease.
  • Estimate material usage and create bills of materials for procurement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience in drafting, design, manufacturing, or engineering; BS in electrical engineering or a relevant degree required.
  • Experience drafting electrical equipment and structural components in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Two or more years of experience with Metal Building Software (MBS).
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Five or more years of experience in electrical design and engineering.
  • Experience managing project managers and junior engineers.
  • Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Substation Design Suite (SDS), and product knowledge of electrical components like SEL, Electroswitch, etc.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Growth mindset and physical ability to perform job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Drafting, Design, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field.
