Responsibilities
- Provide technical support, documentation, design, development, and evaluation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, including power supply and propulsion systems.
- Research and develop ship propulsion systems such as diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems.
- Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
- Design, develop, and evaluate marine vessel operation and shipboard propulsion machinery.
- Review and develop technical data packages.
- Oversee machinery arrangements and conduct trade studies.
- Maintain knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and trade studies related to propulsion configuration.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (US Citizenship).
Additional Information
Salary range: USD $91,600 - $153,000 per year. Compensation depends on experience and other factors. Benefits include healthcare, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance, and training.
