Job Summary :

This position is responsible for providing technical support for multiple production lines manufacturing precision optical assemblies. The Sr Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production personnel to establish proper assembly procedures, oversee documentation, and train staff, with a primary focus on delivering quality products on time at exceptional value for our customers.

You Will :
  • Support production departments with extensive knowledge of manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Ensure efficient operation of manufacturing processes within the facility.
  • Generate detailed work instructions to clearly define critical manufacturing steps.
  • Diagnose and correct production failures with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Design or procure fixtures to aid production, increase repeatability, reduce scrap, and decrease cycle times.
  • Train employees as needed.
  • Identify critical parameters and analyze production metrics to inform data-driven decisions.
  • Summarize data and present findings to management clearly and concisely.
  • Lead manufacturing projects and capital improvements, defining scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse teams including machine operators, assemblers, technicians, engineers, and managers.
  • Manage the transition of manufacturing processes from engineering/prototype to volume production.
  • Work with quality assurance to meet specifications and ensure proper documentation before shipment.
  • Apply knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the optics manufacturing field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience / Certifications / Degrees Required :
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering with 10+ years of experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling and 3D printing (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with Filemaker Pro and Minitab is a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge; Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with customers.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards is preferred.
  • Experience with ITAR regulations and optics, mechanics, quality, verification, and testing standards is preferred.
  • Experience with optical assembly.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
  • 10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands :
