You will hold key responsibilities in funder relations, corporate engagement, grant writing and organizational storytelling for a diverse national funding portfolio. The role will specialize in revenue-raising from significant corporate and foundation accounts at an organization-wide level and across Per Scholas campuses. The successful candidate will play a key role in a talented, high-functioning team raising more than $26M annually, identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding both existing and new relationships to meet our revenue targets and grow our programs nationally. WHAT YOU'LL DO:Portfolio Leadership
  • Support relationships with major national funders providing support at levels of $100K-$10M and, over time, lead relationship management on key accounts within the national portfolio.
  • Help identify and cultivate relationships with new institutional (corporate and foundation) funding sources with potential to support multiple Per Scholas markets or form national partnerships.
  • Manage preparation of slide decks, one-pagers, and other collateral to support national donor cultivation.
  • Help prepare for and attend funder meetings: developing meeting memos, drafting site visit agendas and coordinating among key participants (including Per Scholas staff, learners and alumni, and employer partners), documenting interactions in Salesforce (including detailed meeting notes) and supporting follow-up.
  • Steward national and multi-market corporate partnerships to elevate year over year giving, working with talent solutions, enterprise sales and volunteer engagement managers throughout the organization to ensure comprehensive account management.
  • Continuously track and monitor opportunities, funder deadlines and deliverables, and ensure timely submissions of proposals and reports.
  • Synthesize information from program staff and Salesforce database to articulate goals, activities, anticipated outcomes, successes, challenges, etc. to funders. Generate and analyze complex reports on learner demographics, outcomes and employer partnerships for proposals and reports.
  • Ensure updated market research and data analysis supports proposals and informs white papers or other external reports. (Though grantwriting support may be available, the Senior Manager, Development must also have the ability to prepare and write accurate and compelling concept papers, letters of interest, grant proposals, reports, and other materials that are responsive to donor guidelines, including assembling required documentation and budgets.)
  • Review and edit the work of other team members, including consultants and communications staff, to accurately reflect Per Scholas' impact and growth strategy.
  • Coordinate with communications staff to publicize grants and other corporate engagement activities to advance philanthropic relationships.
  • Collaborate with other account managers to forecast budget projections for the national fundraising team. Coordinate with the Development Operations team to forecast organizational cash flow and track funds received, ensuring revenue tracking is up to date for relevant opportunities.
  • Contribute to accurate and up-to-date development record keeping in Salesforce and other development systems.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO US:Professional Requirements
  • 5-7 years of relevant development experience, including experience directly managing donors giving $50K or more
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and copy editing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, both in person and on phone/video, alongside a desire to be external-facing
  • Experience assembling and presenting compelling decks in pitch meetings
  • A track record of success in managing a portfolio of funders, particularly corporations and foundations
  • Proven research abilities, including gathering and interpreting data; funder prospecting experience desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Google Suite for Business (Docs, Drive, Gmail, Calendar, etc.)
  • Availability to travel 20-25%
  • Capacity to attend key external meetings as the organizational representative
