As Senior Manager, Conversions at Barclays Center, you will lead more than 150 fast-paced arena transitions per year. From NBA and WNBA games to concerts and family shows, you'll turn a basketball court into a stage, a dirt floor for a monster truck show into a graduation ceremony, and back again… most often overnight. This role requires hands-on leadership, resilience under pressure, and a deep sense of accountability. This role is demanding—and that's by design. You'll lead a hardworking, proud union crew through the high-pressure conversions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: What You Will Do Lead and oversee the conversion and changeover of the arena between events, including but not limited to NBA and WNBA games, concerts, boxing, college basketball, graduations, family shows, press conferences, and dirt events. Inspect completed setups to ensure safety, accuracy, and full compliance with production notes, promoter expectations, and internal stakeholder satisfaction. Manage and directly supervise full-time and part-time union staff during all event conversions, including task assignments, real-time adjustments, and preparation of the facility. Develop, implement, and regularly update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all conversion activities. Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate union and non-union staff; facilitate ongoing development; address performance deficiencies; and implement disciplinary or termination procedures as needed. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments—including Events, Engineering, Security, and Premium—as well as external vendors and event partners to ensure conversion plans align with event-specific needs and support smooth operations. Manage conversion-related budgets, including cost accounting, expense tracking, and preparation of event cost summaries for various event types. Create, implement, and oversee purchasing and inventory control systems for tools, equipment, and consumable items. Continuously assess departmental needs, recommend repairs, maintenance, or special projects to the Operations Management, and ensure proper training and care of venue equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and lifts. Conduct ongoing reviews of budgeting and staffing plans while recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating departmental personnel to ensure optimal performance and meet staffing needs. Prepare and maintain all required records, reports, and certifications to ensure compliance with city, state, and corporate policies, including safety and labor standards. Take ownership of projects and special initiatives as assigned by the Director of Arena Operations. CANDIDATE PROFILE: Who You Are Bachelor's or technical required. Minimum of 1–2 years' experience in facility operations management or conversions, including building changeovers, specifically within large sports and entertainment venues (18,000+ seats), managing conversion requirements for diverse arena events. Specific knowledge of portable seating, basketball floors, ice maintenance, dasher boards, dirt management, and overall venue changeover logistics. Prior experience managing and developing teams, preferably within a union environment. Familiar with OSHA standards and regulations, workplace safety, and the physical demands of the job. Proven experience in developing, managing budgets, and controlling costs. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. KEY COMPETENCIES: Skills You Possess Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays regularly, demonstrating dependability, punctuality, and timely completion of responsibilities. Excellent communication and situational leadership skills. Ability to stand or sit in one location for extended periods, typically a minimum of four hours during conversions. Ability to work in various climates based on the environment in the venue. Physically capable of lifting up to 70 lbs., standing for long hours, and navigating the arena during setup. Must have the ability to read, write and understand English in a working environment.
