We are looking for an experienced and professional horticulturalist to serve as our Senior Maintenance Team Lead. This position assists in leading our Maintenance Team Members and fostering a culture of education and exceptional client care. This role is crucial to the success of the department and is responsible for researching new and innovative organic maintenance practices, training and mentoring team members for professional growth, and ensuring all landscapes are exceptional.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Team Leads and Team Members to ensure landscapes thrive, working alongside them to implement services for each site.
  • Assist the Maintenance Department Lead with administrative and personnel management tasks such as timekeeping, expense approval, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Research and explore products and maintenance practices to pursue the most effective organic maintenance methods.
  • Coordinate procurement of organic products, maintain inventory, and train team members in application and best practices.
  • Provide horticultural expertise, including plant knowledge and integrated pest management (IPM), to the team and clients.
  • Establish and support a commitment to job site safety in collaboration with the Safety Lead and Safety Committee.
  • Seek solutions to steward landscapes as they mature and evolve.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of each client landscape and work with the Project Manager and Team Lead to develop service plans.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. - 3 p.m.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, natural or environmental sciences, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in landscape or gardening; or a minimum of 8 years of professional landscape or gardening experience without a degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience supervising, coaching, and mentoring employees.
  • Estate gardening experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Smartsheet is a plus.
  • Extensive Plant ID knowledge specific to the Pacific Northwest Plant palate.
  • Basic irrigation knowledge.
  • Ability to read plan sets and specifications, and to sketch details for clarification and review.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to Organic Maintenance practices.
  • Certification as a Professional Horticulturalist is preferred.
  • Valid Washington state driver's license.
