Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is growing! We are seeking a Senior Structural / Bridge Engineer with 12+ years of relevant experience in analysis and design of new and rehabilitation structures, to join our structural engineering team in Raleigh, NC or other office locations.

The successful candidate will have strong design and technical skills, manage tasks and projects, mentor junior staff, and lead team members in designing highway (DOT) and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, load rating, and other related structures. You will support various structural transportation projects for state departments of transportation, counties, municipalities, and private clients, with opportunities to work on projects in other states through our interoffice staff utilization program. Responsibilities
  • Serve as a lead technical professional on bridge or structural design projects.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of medium to large multi-discipline projects or medium-sized bridge projects with high technical complexity, involving diverse project staff.
  • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contractual document work sessions with project teams.
  • Ensure project deliverables and documentation meet standards and client requirements.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload to complete documents on schedule.
  • Collaborate with business and project review teams.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and review bridge plans.
  • Mentor and develop personnel, including less experienced project managers.
  • Maintain professional engineering registration.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; Master's preferred.
  • PE licensure or ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months.
  • 5+ years of project and client management experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Business development and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to interact with design teams and manage projects effectively.
  • Active participation in our employee-owned culture.
  • Willingness to perform bridge inspections and work at heights.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., LEAP Bridge, LARSA 4D, Bentley MicroStation, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Successful passing of pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships.
  • Physical ability to perform field work and navigate terrain.
