Senior Lawyer - Bighornlaw : Job Details

We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Lawyer whose primary purpose will be to lead complex cases, advocate zealously for clients, and help strengthen our team through mentorship and collaboration. In this role, you will manage an active caseload independently, represent clients in court and at mediations, and develop thoughtful legal strategies that position clients for the best possible outcomes.

On a daily basis, you can expect to draft pleadings and motions, attend court appearances, conduct depositions, negotiate settlements, and counsel clients through every stage of the legal process. You will also have the important responsibility of mentoring newer associates, helping to develop their litigation skills and professional judgment. Strong trial experience, excellent writing, and confident communication are essential, as you will often be the face of the firm in court and client interactions.

Responsibilities

NOTE: The following are duties performed by employees in this classification. However, this is not a full list for this classification. Further, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level.

• Anticipate, prepare for, and attend trials, mediation, depositions, and arbitration on behalf of clients.
• Assists in the daily operation of the office, including oversight, training, and mentoring of attorneys, staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Maintain knowledge of all local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws.
• Identifies, researches, and analyzes legal issues; reviews legal authority cited by litigants; conducts self-directed research as may be needed to further clarify issues and arrive at sound conclusions.
• Oversee and or prepare appropriate documents, such as motions, pleadings, notices, and discovery requests/responses are calendared and completed timely.
• Prepares a variety of reports and correspondence.
• Maintains proficiency through continuing education in specific areas of procedural and substantive law.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Education: Completion of a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: A total of three to five years of full-time experience in any combination of the following: civil litigation; court administration; professional-level legal research experience in support of the judicial branch. Experience in litigation is highly desirable.
• LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Current active membership and good standing with the State Bar of California.
