Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with sales producers to gather essential information for effective policy/account underwriting and pricing.
- Underwrite complex risks through established procedures, referring business beyond your authority limit as needed.
- Evaluate and refine established underwriting procedures and guidelines, making recommendations for improvements.
- Provide proactive feedback to Sales Teams and Underwriting Management regarding trends and challenges in your assigned territory, suggesting practical solutions.
- Work seamlessly with other Commercial Lines functions to meet service and quality standards, including rating, general services, audit, safety services, premium accounting, and customer service.
- Manage challenging bond and reinsurance assignments, demonstrating your expertise in these areas.
- Understand and adapt to the evolving insurance marketplace and emerging industry issues.
- Engage in projects requiring high technical knowledge and participate in audits or policy construction reviews.
- Travel to agencies or insured clients to discuss issues that impact service efficiency and growth while promoting specific insurance products.
- Train and mentor junior underwriters, conduct presentations, and deliver training on underwriting procedures.
- Attend sales team meetings to strategize and pursue new account opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as required, leveraging your knowledge and skills to enhance our underwriting capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant middle-market commercial lines underwriting experience.
- Prior experience in Commercial Property Casualty insurance underwriting.
- Completion of, or progress towards, relevant insurance courses such as IIA and/or CPCU is preferred.
- Solid understanding of commercial multi-line insurance concepts and terminology.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Willingness to meet occasional travel requirements.
