We are looking for a Senior HVAC Design Engineer with a science & technology or healthcare focus in our dynamic New York City office.As a Senior HVAC Design Engineer, you will be working on cutting edge projects in the Science and Technology as well as healthcare and Commercial space.Some of your responsibilities as a Senior HVAC Design Engineer include the following:

• Lead the technical development of HVAC systems for large and complex projects including Science & Technology, Academic, and Commercial sector.
• Formulate design criteria, perform calculations, develop concep t designs, specifications, and construction documents for high performance building systems
• Supervise and effectively manage technical development throughout all phases of design assuring tasks are completed in accordance with company standards and good engineering practice.
• Develops mechanical plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed on assigned tasks
• Technically involved in the resolution of design problems that may include performing filed investigation or inspections
• Knowledge and experience with mechanical calculations, equipment selection, ductwork layout, hydronic systems, and construction documents.
• Understand Revit to allow leadership and direction for the design teams.
• Attend field visits, develop visit reports, meet with contractors, as necessary.
• Mentorship of Junior Engineers.

Essential Skills & RequirementsEvery Vanderweil Engineers team member brings something unique to the table. Here is what we are looking for with this role:

• 10+ years of experience designing HVAC systems in high performance facilities.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience leading HVAC teams on technically challenging projects
• Communication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
• Background in either commercial, mission critical data centers, or hospitality is a plus.
• Professional commitment to sustainability, LEED accreditation is a plus.
• Professional Engineering license is a preferred.

The salary range for this position is commensurate with several factors including years of experience, type of experience, education, and professional registration, therefore total compensation is expected to range from $140,000 to $170,000.00.
