Join Our Team as an HR Specialist

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The job responsibilities include:
Participate in and assist with new hire training, orientation, onboarding, and benefits enrollment to ensure a smooth transition into the agency.Advise employees on policies, procedures, benefits programs, and other HR-related inquiries.Process bi-weekly payroll, including verifying employees' work hours and payments, especially in the absence of the payroll specialist.Manage and maintain employee databases, personnel, and payroll files; prepare reports and metrics as needed.Handle employee status changes such as hiring, transfers, wage adjustments, and separations.Serve as the main contact for inquiries regarding employee benefits programs.Create employee engagement plans, seek necessary budget approvals, and initiate activities.Foster a positive and supportive work environment, serve as a key contact for employee inquiries, and maintain confidentiality.Monitor employee morale and company culture; plan employee-related events and meetings.Implement disciplinary actions when necessary and address employee grievances.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent preferred, but not required; two to four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Work experience will be strongly considered.
- Five years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a nonprofit social service setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, with knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems.
- SHRM-CP certification preferred.
