Conceived over sixty years ago as one of the nation's first not-for-profit theaters, The Public Theater has long operated on the principles that theater is an essential cultural force, and that art and culture belong to everyone. The Public is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Designer to join its in-house Brand Studio team in the development of all internal and external communication materials utilizing The Public's signature visual identity.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Art Director, the Senior Designer will uphold the visual consistency of The Public's visual brand.Contribute to the creation of, a large variety of materials promoting The Public's vast array of programming including Free Shakespeare in the Park, Joe's Pub, plus a full slate of musicals, plays, events, and programs along with institutional requests for marketing and fundraising. Project materials include both printed and digital formats, but are not limited to posters, printed programs, signage, advertisements, logos, brochures and booklets, postcards, letterhead/business cards, flyers, motion graphics, social media graphics, email graphics, merchandise, presentations, invitations and more.Adhere to delivering all projects in a timely manner and meeting project deadlines.Collaborate with the Art Director and marketing team in the timely creation of original key artwork for each theatrical production.RequirementsMin 7+ years of experience as a designer within an in-house team, studio, or agency environment.Exceptional typography skills. Dynamic type and image integration are at the core of The Public's visual brand.Expert in Adobe Creative Suite with required experience in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects. Knowledge of Slack and Asana for internal communication and project coordination, and production knowledge, a plus.Must be a self-starter with the ability to design with limited direction and to check work consistently.Well organized with laser focus and exceptional attention to detail.Experience collaborating with C-suite and other senior level executives in conceiving and executing high profile projects.Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to advocate and explain design choices while building and maintaining respectful internal and external relationships.The aptitude to prioritize and design multiple and overlapping projects under pressure, in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.A creative problem solver with a service-oriented attitude.An ability to guide and mentor other design staff and provide training and direction as necessary.Experience With Motion Design Is Not Required, But Preferred.The Public Theater supports flexible and hybrid work arrangements.
