Job Description :

Guardian Bikes is scaling fast: our total shipment volume is projected to triple in the next three years, and we need transportation talent that thrives in this type of growth. This role is for an experienced shipping professional who can take full ownership of high-visibility, high-impact shipments across both international and domestic networks.

You will be the go-to resource for shipment execution, proactive exception management, and problem-solving. You will use both your technical expertise and your established network of freight forwarders, carriers, and brokers to keep product moving. You will combine day-to-day operational control with analytical insight to reduce delays, optimize costs, and strengthen carrier relationships.

Key Responsibilities and Time Allocation

1. Shipment Execution and Tracking (30%)

  • Manage the day-to-day movement of shipments including international inbound, domestic outbound, and intercompany across all modes (ocean, air, truck, parcel).
  • Maintain real-time visibility using carrier portals, 3PL systems, and internal tracking tools.
  • Preempt delays through early intervention with carriers and forwarders.

2. Exception Resolution and Escalation (30%)

  • Serve as the first line of defense when shipments are delayed, misrouted, or held in customs.
  • Escalate issues through industry contacts to secure expedited resolution.
  • Keep stakeholders informed with timely, accurate status updates.

3. Carrier and Partner Liaison (20%)

  • Leverage your established network to secure service improvements and capacity during peak or constrained periods.
  • Act as the primary contact for operational coordination with carriers, brokers, and forwarders.
  • Support contract and rate discussions by providing operational insights.

4. Freight Cost and Performance Analysis (15%)

  • Validate freight invoices and ensure compliance with negotiated rates.
  • Track KPIs for on-time performance, dwell time, and cost per shipment.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through mode shifts or load consolidation.

5. Process and Tool Enhancement (5%)

  • Recommend improvements to tracking tools, reporting dashboards, and escalation playbooks.
  • Contribute to SOP development for transportation best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 8 years in transportation, freight forwarding, or shipping operations with strong exposure to both international and domestic movements.
  • Demonstrated success resolving high-value shipment exceptions quickly and effectively.
  • Established network of carrier, forwarder, and broker contacts.
  • Proficiency with TMS platforms, freight visibility tools, and Excel or Power BI.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-change environment with shifting priorities.
