Senior Functional Safety Engineer - TEC Group : Job Details

Sr Functional Safety Engineer Normal, IL (Onsite) M-F 6:30am-5:00pm $43.00-$57.00/hr Summary In this role, you will be involved with the design and specifications for new machinery and equipment for Engineering & Manufacturing sites. You will also be an active participant in equipment acceptance testing and commissioning as well as evaluating proposed changes to equipment and machinery for safety requirements. Responsibilities

• Work with engineering, operations and equipment vendors for design and commissioning activities
• Develop equipment safety standards where needed and continuously improve existing standards
• Complete Risk Assessments in accordance with ISO 12100 and Rivian standards
• Conduct Equipment Safety Buyoffs with a cross-functional team
• Identify safety opportunities and suggest corrective actions for continuous improvement
• Create and deliver training related to equipment and machinery safety
• Maintain detailed records of equipment compliance
• Work with department EHS staff to support as needed
• Participate in learning teams, investigations, inspections, audits, etc. as needed

Requirements

• Demonstrated familiarity with mechanical, electrical, automation, and control system design
• Experience with ANSI, UL, NFPA, ISO and other applicable standards
• Experience interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits and evaluating performance level & circuit structure
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuit design in accordance with NEC, UL 508a, and NFPA 79

Preferred

• Certified Functional Safety Professional CFSP/CFSE
• Certified Machine Safety Expert
• Experience in Battery/EV Manufacturing
• Experience with national Standards Development (UL,NFPA,ANSI)
• Working knowledge of hazardous area classifications, occupancy classification, hazardous material inventories
