Role and responsibilities
- Responsible for development of new products/parts (Metal - Auto components).
- Understand customer needs and incorporate them in product design.
- Handle customer queries and conduct technical meetings related to new product design/development.
- Monitor and record quality, cost, and delivery time of each new project.
- Plan daily/weekly work for the project being handled.
- Conduct new product technical feasibility studies, DFMEA, design reviews, DVP, etc.
- Document projects as per QMS and have knowledge in APQP process.
- Generate new product ideas and innovative products.
- Improve RFQ hit rate.
- Manage CAD data.
- Conduct regional customer audits.
- Support customers and visit them (if needed) to resolve technical issues.
- Design and develop new products/parts.
- Have knowledge of design and development for sheet metal clip parts.
- Knowledge of raw materials, spring steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other grades.
- Knowledge of heat treatment processes and surface coating.
- Facilitate new product feasibility studies.
- Maintain data for lessons learned.
- Exhibit good analytical skills in problem-solving methods.
- Participate in the implementation of internal tests (e.g., load tests).
Education and experience
- BE Mechanical with 7 to 8 years of experience in sheet metal part design.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with additional years of experience.
- Knowledge of sheet metal raw materials and processes.
