Job DescriptionExecute the planning of engineering analysis, product design anddevelopment for space and water heating products and systems thatmeet and exceed product / program requirements.• Develop test plans including, application development, field testing,certification, and reliability assessment.• Develop solutions to optimize heat pump water and space heatingsystems and boilers for efficiency, performance and reliability.• Develop heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics designcalculations for heat pump water and space heating systems andboilers.• Work in partnership with product performance and certification teamsto ensure products meet performance and regulatory requirements.• Develop application solutions for both Commercial and Residentialproducts to ensure expected and reliable product performance.• Create and document technical data generated for assigned projects.• Provide technical direction and engineering analysis to ensuresuccessful product development.• Act as mentor and interface with other engineers and assist withmultiple assignments as needed.• Develop, assist, review and approve the development of technicalliterature for Rinnai water heating products.• Embrace new product development processes and practices.• Support a collaborative environment and drive knowledge sharingthroughout the engineering group.• Actively develop new product applications and / or product solutions tosupport the marketplace growth of Rinnai.• Full product application responsibility from beginning to end. Embraceand support growing business demands in a changing environment.
Knowledge & SkillsMinimum 3 years' experience in engineering applications and productdevelopment fields related heat pump systems, boilers and other HVACproducts.• Understanding of ASHRAE, NEEA, ANSI, CSA, DOE, AHRI, Energy Star standards,processes and testing methods and requirements related to heat pump waterand space heating systems, solo and combi boilers, HVAC products, direct ventfurnaces, and vent free convectors.• Strong experience with mechanical systems, and space and water heatingproduct development and application.• Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D software.• Experience in HVAC design software (e.g. Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, EnergyPlus)is a plus.• Experience developing products via New Product Development process (StageGate Process).
