The hiring manager is specifically seeking candidates with 10+ years of experience in physical design of substations – including layout, equipment, and construction standards.

Join one of the region's most respected utilities and work on transformational substation engineering projects. In this role, you'll work under limited supervision to lead the design and development of transmission and substation systems, helping to modernize and strengthen the grid.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead physical substation design, including layout, equipment selection, construction drawings, and grounding studies
• Review and create construction specifications, engineering sketches, and detailed cost estimates
• Perform technical analyses, including ampacity calculations, battery sizing, lightning protection, and insulation coordination
• Use IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and NERC/FERC standards to ensure designs meet regulatory and industry best practices
• Coordinate with internal operations and external stakeholders from concept through post-construction
• Support site walkdowns and field engineering during construction
• Keep engineering teams updated on project status, budgets, and technical changes
• Represent the company at industry meetings and committees

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
• 8+ years (ideally 10+) of experience in substation engineering, especially physical design
• Strong working knowledge of substation layouts, breakers, switches, steel structures, and one-line/schematic drawings
• Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with IEEE/ANSI Standards, NESC, and utility-grade equipment specs
• P.E. License (Preferred, or in progress in NY/NJ/PA)
• PMP Certification (Preferred or working toward)
