Collaborate with the Editorial Director and Education Editor to develop highly engaging nonfiction texts and editorial assets including feature articles, news shorts, videos, and games that cover a range of standards-aligned math topics for grades 6through 9. Research and pitch story ideas that meet all three of the following criteria: are visually appealing, are of high interest to young audiences, and teach a specific math skill. Write one or more feature articles per issue and have full ownership: conducting interviews, writing and revising copy, requesting images, working with art director to finesse layouts for editors approval, inputting fact check changes and copy edits, and giving the article its final read. Oversee the ideation and creation of Scholastic MATHs Teachers Guide and online teaching materials, including lesson plans, activity sheets, and answer keyshepherding these assets through the full editorial process with minimal oversight.
