As a Senior Director, Software Engineering, you will leverage your expertise in software architecture, APIs, microservices, and cloud technologies to design and implement scalable platform solutions that deliver real business results. You will partner with leadership to influence strategic decisions, ensuring our software systems evolve to meet future needs. You'll be the go-to expert for all things software, shaping innovative, customer-focused solutions.

The software engineering organization at OUTFRONT manages our cloud-based enterprise advertising platform, providing tools for creating RFPs, executing contracts, pitching, planning, measuring campaigns, and transacting at scale.

We seek a Senior Director of Software Engineering to manage and develop a new team that will deliver foundational capabilities for our platform and iterate as the business transforms. You will use your experience in building large-scale, highly available distributed systems to remake our core ad platform, utilizing SaaS solutions and API gateways with microservices. You'll collaborate with senior stakeholders across product, project management, engineering, operations, and data analytics to establish and execute the vision for our new platform.

Your experience with technologies including functional and flexible programming languages, gRPC and REST web service frameworks, container (e.g., Kubernetes) and serverless (e.g., AWS Lambda) environments, cloud databases, and security will greatly benefit our organization. What You'll Do:

  • Lead, manage, and grow a team of platform-focused software engineers
  • Work with product and cross-functional partners to develop vision and roadmap, ensuring timely execution
  • Continuously improve software engineering practices from design to deployment
  • Influence system design, architecture, and lead the craftsmanship, resilience, and scalability of solutions
  • Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in tech communities, and mentor team members
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Lead efforts to deploy applications into AWS environments
  • Partner with leadership to align on business objectives, provide updates, and make data-driven decisions
  • Be the subject matter expert in ad tech, leveraging OUTFRONT's market position
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve challenges to keep projects on track

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 9 years in software development
  • At least 5 years in people management
  • Strong collaboration skills, experience in complex organizations
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Quick learner with ability to grasp business and technical needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • 12+ years in software development
  • 10+ years in complex architectural patterns, APIs, microservices, event streams
  • 5+ years AWS cloud experience
  • Experience leading agile teams using tools like Jira and Confluence

OUTFRONT Media will consider sponsoring qualified applicants for employment.

The salary range is $225,000-$250,000 per year, with incentive compensation. Compensation is determined during interviews based on experience, skills, and market benchmarks. This information is provided in accordance with the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
