POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Operations (SDO) is responsible for maintaining all Denver Rescue Mission (DRM) real estate and buildings in Denver and in Northern Colorado. Major areas of responsibility include Supervision of Director of Warehouse Operations, Facilities Maintenance Managers and project management of capital projects on an annual basis. The (SDO) reports to the Vice President of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance

  • Supervises and coaches the Facilities Maintenance Managers.
  • Ensures proper utilization of the computerized Salesforce and Trello System, or other applicable systems, for repairs and maintenance, inspecting reporting to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • From a high level, ensures the performance of daily routine maintenance and upkeep of all facilities.
  • Oversees building equipment and systems repairs (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, roof etc.).
  • Manages the delivery of facility services (waste disposal, utilities, etc.).
  • Oversees and administers annual budgets.

Warehouse Operations

  • Supervises and coaches the Director of Warehouse Operations.
  • Facilitates the strategic personnel structure, vendor relationships, and commodity assistant partnerships to anticipate changes in GIK (Gift in Kind) needs, regulatory agency governance, and growth of the organization.
  • Lead
  • strategic organization of warehouse space to maximize capacity and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensures the operational readiness and safety of the entire fleet by supporting all maintenance activities and upholding rigorous driver standards.
  • Oversees, in coordination with the Director of Warehouse Operations, the annual budget for warehouse operations and the Vehicle Program / Fleet Operations.
  • Uphold and enforce all DRM standards for the handling, processing, and utilization of gift-in-kind donations.
  • Capital Project Management

  • Supervises and coaches the Assistant Project Manager.
  • Assesses facility needs and conditions of building structure and systems and implements corrective action as needed.
  • Serves as the project manager to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensures contractors adhere to local and state codes and mission standards.
  • Solicits estimates for a wide range of contracted repairs and remodel projects.
  • Manages a budget that exceeds $1,000,000.
  • Agriculture

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of Harvest Farm's agricultural operations, including crop planning, cultivation, harvesting, and livestock management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sustainable farming practices.
  • Oversee a team of agricultural professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation, ensuring effective resource allocation and optimal use of products within the Denver Rescue Mission kitchens.
  • Administration

  • Drives continuous improvement in both Maintenance and Warehouse Operations, including regular monitoring of performance metrics and visual management boards.
  • Performs scheduled walk-through inspections with facility Directors to determine overall effectiveness of Maintenance.
  • Maintains supportive and positive relationships with facility Directors through open lines of communication and managing standards and expectations.
  • Develop strategic plans and budgets related to maintenance, warehouse operations, and facility capital projects while providing financial analysis when needed.
  • Oversee maintenance of all fleet vehicles including inspections and cleanliness. Assures proper paperwork are in the vehicles. Works with Director of Warehouse Operations for service and maintenance.
  • Works with accounting to reconcile vendor accounts relating to Maintenance and Warehouse Operations.
  • Optimizes the supply chain for parts, materials, cleaning supplies, etc. in cooperation with the warehouse at the Ministry Outreach Center.
  • Works with accounting to reconcile credit card accounts.
  • Oversees ordering, tracking and / or picking up necessary items to complete maintenance work at all DRM facilities.
  • Compiles and maintains systems and operations manuals for all facilities.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with government regulations and schedules fire, safety and other inspections.
  • Trains employees on safe practices in compliance with OSHA.
  • Manages recordkeeping and reporting for the State of Colorado Premium Cost Containment Certificate.
  • Participates in the Safety Council.
  • Delivers energy efficient workplace environments and audits energy use and efficiency.
  • Maintains critical systems (electricity, heat, water, etc.), ensuring they are operational with minimal downtime.
  • Displays the ideals of Humble, Hungry, Smart as described in Patrick Lencioni's book, The Ideal Team Player .
  • Is available for emergency on call on a rotating basis which will require carrying a cell phone at all times while on call. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required.
  • Maintains clear and effective communication with the V.P. of Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience supervising staff in a facilities department.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience working in facilities / construction.
  • Educational background in facilities management, warehouse operations, or construction may be substituted for some required professional experience.
  • Certified Facilities Manager certification or Facility Management Professional certification from International Facilities Maintenance Association or equivalent, preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred.
  • Ability to triage work requests, prioritize tasks when facing competing demands and mobilize teams to execute directives effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience in carpentry, plumbing, locks, electrical, HVAC, and facilities maintenance required.
  • Must be dependable and willing to work a flexible schedule depending on circumstances, such as inclement weather.
  • Strong Christian ethic with ability to work with people of diverse cultural, educational and religious backgrounds.
  • Must hold a current, valid Colorado Driver's License and be willing to authorize a driver's record background check. Driving record must be insurable under DRM's standards.
  • Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
