Our client, a prominent organization focused on policy, business, and cultural initiatives across the Americas is seeking a Senior Director of Finance to join its senior management team. This newly created role is designed to support the organization's succession plan, working closely with the current CFO, President & CEO, and senior leadership to transition responsibilities and ensure operational continuity.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Senior Director of Finance will play a key role in managing financial, administrative, personnel, IT, and operational functions. The role involves overseeing financial planning and reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing investments, and optimizing organizational processes. The successful candidate will contribute to strategic decision-making while gaining in-depth knowledge of the organization's mission and operations to facilitate a smooth transition to the CFO role in the future.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinance & Audit
Lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting for leadership, boards, auditors, donors, and grants.Manage financial activities, including cash flow, investments, and reconciliations.Oversee compliance with financial regulations, audits, and tax filings.Work with external auditors and tax consultants to maintain financial integrity.Ensure accurate financial controls and reporting for restricted funds and government grants.Maintain strong relationships with banks, investment advisors, and insurance providers.Operations & Administration
Oversee administrative functions, including governance, legal matters, and contract management.Assist in board meetings, prepare financial reports, and coordinate governance activities.Manage facility operations, including capital improvement projects for a historic headquarters.Support regional offices with lease renewals, office upgrades, and equipment acquisitions.Human Resources & Compliance
Manage employee benefits, including health, dental, life insurance, and retirement plans.Oversee HR policies, compliance, and personnel records.Assist with work visa processing for international hires.Work with IT leadership to enhance cybersecurity, operational efficiency, and infrastructure.Oversee IT service agreements, equipment financing, and technology-related contracts.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration (MBA or CPA preferred).7–10 years of experience in finance and operations, preferably in the nonprofit sector.Strong knowledge of financial reporting, fund accounting, and compliance.Experience with administrative, IT, and facility management functions.Ability to multitask and meet financial reporting deadlines.Excellent communication and leadership skills.Spanish proficiency is a plus.The compensation for this position ranges from $150,000.00 - $180,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual's qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
