Senior Interior Designer – Workplace & Commercial Interiors

Overview

A dynamic and award-winning architecture and interiors firm is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead workplace and commercial interiors projects in its New York City studio. The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative design leader with experience in workplace strategy, high-end commercial interiors, and repositioning projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to make a meaningful impact across design, documentation, and project delivery.

You will contribute to concept development, lead coordination with consultants, mentor junior team members, and play a key role in client relationships from early visioning through construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of workplace, amenity, and commercial interiors projects across all phases—from concept to completion.
• Translate client goals and branding into functional, compelling interior environments.
• Oversee space planning, programming, and detailing with a strong understanding of current workplace trends and standards.
• Produce and review detailed construction documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Guide FF&E selection, finishes, and specifications that reflect project goals and budget.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors throughout DD, CD, and CA phases.
• Mentor intermediate and junior designers; foster a culture of creativity and accountability.
• Present design concepts and project updates to clients and stakeholders clearly and confidently.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of interior design experience focused on commercial interiors and workplace strategy.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Enscape.
• Experience delivering multiple commercial interior projects in NYC.
• Strong understanding of detailing, code compliance (including ADA and NYC building codes), and construction coordination.
• Confident communicator with the ability to lead meetings and build client relationships.
• Licensed Architect or NCIDQ certification a plus.
