Senior Design Engineer

Summary/Objective
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for all design considerations and engineering calculations related to the development and support of standard products. This role requires a self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as expertise in heat transfer, thermodynamics, structural analysis, finite element analysis, and code compliance.

- Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and Project Managers to ensure best practices in design.
- Perform engineering calculations to support product development (fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, stress and fatigue analysis).
- Apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assist in design as needed.
- Ensure products meet applicable industry codes (ASME, PED, CRN, UL, CE, CSA, etc.).
- Verify design performance through appropriate testing to minimize risk at product launch.
- Utilize PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Modicon, Siemens) to support product design.
- Contribute to the design of PSA and VPSA oxygen/nitrogen generation systems.
- Support product startups on occasion.
- Maintain accurate design documentation throughout the development process.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to standardize design practices.
- Develop automated calculation packages to streamline recurring tasks.
- Partner with suppliers on subcomponent and subassembly development.
- Contribute to product documentation and validation testing.
- Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and production teams to ensure readiness for launch.
- Some travel required (including potential international travel).

Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (heavier lifting possible at times)

- Visual requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
Travel
- Required 10–15% of the time, with possible international assignments.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's degree a plus
- 3+ years of product development experience in a small to mid-sized company
- SolidWorks CAD proficiency
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- MathCAD or MATLAB skills
- Exposure to ERP systems such as JD Edwards or SAP
