***Must be Authorized to Work in the US***Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment. This role is critical in analyzing and managing costs related to materials, labor, and overhead, and will provide key financial insights that drive operational efficiency and cost control. The ideal candidate has a strong background in costing, variance analysis, and inventory management within a manufacturing setting.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain custom cost models for all manufactured products.
  • Analyze and report on production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Monitor and report on cost variances, investigate discrepancies, and provide recommendations to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency. Partner with operations to resolve discrepancies and improve accuracy.
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and production teams to ensure accurate product costing and bill of materials (BOM).
  • Oversee inventory accounting from a financial perspective, including proper valuation, tracking, and reconciliation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, transfers, and scrap, and ensure alignment between physical and system records.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Provide detailed gross margin and profitability analysis by product, line, and customer.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed for internal and external auditors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and BOM structures.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly.
Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with activity-based costing (ABC) or job costing.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and cost-driver analysis.
  • Experience working in custom manufacturing.
