Senior Controls Engineer III Join our team as a Senior Controls Engineer III, where you will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems for baggage and material handling. Based in Louisville, KY, with options for remote work for well-qualified candidates, this role involves significant opportunities for project leadership and innovation in electrical design, PLC programming, and field commissioning. You will contribute to cutting-edge projects that enhance operational efficiency and reliability, serving key roles from concept through to system activation and ongoing support. Salary: Based on Experience Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead all phases of a controls project, including initial concept, design development, system implementation, and post-installation support.
  • Mentor and manage teams of junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Design and verify electrical circuit layouts and control distributions in compliance with relevant standards.
  • Create functional test plans for system commissioning and ensure successful field operations.
  • Directly engage in PLC programming, designing user interfaces, and integrating control devices within complex networks.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting during system commissioning and throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation and system specifications to support project goals.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Control System Engineering.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in controls engineering within industrial settings, particularly in baggage or material handling industries.
  • Profound competency in PLC programming languages and Rockwell PLC and HMI products.
  • Strong skills in electrical design, including familiarity with AutoCAD and other engineering software.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to national and international job sites.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S., with airport security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced proficiency with various PLC platforms and extensive experience in system and panel design.
  • Experience in troubleshooting VFDs, Servos, and integrating sensor technologies into functional designs.
  • Strong background in mentoring teams, leading projects, and providing comprehensive client support.
  • Remote work suitability with demonstrated autonomy and proactive project management capabilities.
  • Experience adhering to strict safety standards and regulations, such as UL508a, NEC, and NFPA.

  • Expertise in managing full lifecycle control projects from design through to completion and follow-up.
  • Robust analytical and critical thinking skills linked with proficient problem-solving capabilities.
