Construction Senior Controller

Are you ready to take the reins of financial leadership in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Controller/CFO to join our team and drive the financial success of our construction operations. What You'll Do:

As our Senior Controller/CFO, you'll be at the helm of our financial operations, ensuring the smooth execution of all accounting functions while strategically positioning us for continued growth.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with ownership and leadership teams to drive financial performance and align accounting systems with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support data-driven decisions.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee and enhance accounting functions such as AR, AP, payroll, and job costing.
  • Streamline and improve financial policies, processes, and controls to support efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner with project teams to track progress, analyze work-in-progress (WIP) reports, and generate financial projections.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop our talented accounting staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless integration of financial and operational goals.
  • Guide the Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) reporting and audits alongside our Risk Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and oversee all tax-related filings and audits.

What We're Looking For:

Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA, MS, or CPA preferred).
  • 15+ years of construction accounting experience, with a proven track record as a Controller or in a similar leadership role.
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (experience with Sage 300 is preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting processes and controls.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Exceptional team-building skills with a demonstrated ability to hire, train, and mentor staff.
  • Strong judgment, analytical abilities, and an operational mindset.
