Condor Earth has an immediate opening for a Senior Construction/Materials Testing Engineer in our Stockton, CA office. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $95,000 to $140,000/year, along with a company vehicle for project-related travel. POSTION SUMMARY The Senior Construction Materials Testing Engineer performs managerial and engineering oversight of the Materials Testing and Special Inspection Department. The Department currently consists of seven staff members, including technicians, support staff, and a licensed engineer. We operate concrete and soil testing labs in Jamestown and Stockton. Managerial responsibilities include client interaction, project management, and personnel supervision. Project management encompasses the preparation of proposals, supervision of invoicing, and delivery of services. Engineering responsibilities include quality control of laboratory and field services, encompassing soils and concrete laboratory and field testing, as well as special inspection services. Engineering responsibilities also include being the Engineer of Record for services and test results. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY AS A SENIOR CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS ENGINEER A day in the life of a Senior Construction Materials Testing Engineer involves overseeing Condor team members, directing day-to-day activities, and visiting project sites to support team members. You will interact with other project team members, such as structural engineers, architects, civil engineers, and contractors, to ensure seamless project execution. You will provide expert consulting during the construction phase and will supervise construction inspection staff to ensure that projects meet client and industry standards. You will prepare proposals, budgets, and qualification documents in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with the support of staff. You will review and stamp final certification reports, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards. Delegation of tasks to staff members will be essential for maintaining team efficiency, while senior professionals will rely on collaboration and peer reviews of all independently performed work. Effective communication with owners, designers, consultants, contractors, and co-workers will be critical to the success of the role. Additionally, you will support business and client development, attending meetings and identifying opportunities for new business. QUALIFIED CANDIDATES To be considered, the candidate must have at least seven years of work experience in construction materials engineering as a licensed professional. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required, and proficiency with applicable engineering software is essential. The candidate must hold a current Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) registration in the state of California.
