Job Description / Justification:
The successful candidate will serve as a Senior Applications Cloud Engineer reporting to the OTI Applications division. This position is responsible for supporting and delivering cloud infrastructure for the Applications division that are aligned with the Agency's multi-tenant cloud computing strategy and service offering. This position is responsible for managing cloud infrastructure deployed as part of the MyCity Initiative. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for leading projects and initiatives and making significant contribution to the technical design and implementation of the Agency's cloud platforms. This role offers the opportunity to work across teams and contribute to the cloud service offering while leading the charge for cloud services across NYC; and involves critical thinking and problem solving in concert with the utilization of industry standard best practices for hybrid cloud service deployment.
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
- Design and implement highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that provide solutions to solve business problems and accelerate the adoption of cloud services
- Drive requirements for integrating several cloud capabilities and scenarios such as service availability, quality, correlation of usage and charges, and cost-efficient solution architecture.
- Deployment and configuration of IaaS/PaaS components across Azure and AWS environments
- Build automation scripts for Azure and AWS IaaS, PaaS, AKS, serverless, databases, secrets, and?Storage services
- Configure cloud security and policy components
- Planning and implementation for cloud environments
- Enablement of requisite insight and monitoring tools
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.
- 12+ years of technology development and administration experience
- 6+ years hands-on implementation experience using Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services
- 5+ years of experience supporting and maintaining enterprise hybrid cloud environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, cost frameworks, trends and industry-leading private/public/hybrid cloud vendor offerings and interoperability.
- Hands-on experience in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Azure DevOps
- Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery design, planning and implementation.
- Experience with AWS and Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Ability to design / plan / execute automation of workflows.
- Expert troubleshooting skillset.
- Self-motivated, must be a proven team player.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Familiar with the Well-Architected Framework (both AWS and Azure)
- Experience with Linux and Windows server administration.
- Cloud based storage system administration.
- Strong scripting skills in such as Python and PowerShell.
- Experience in storage migrations in large complex enterprise storage environments.
