The Role

We are seeking a highly experiencedClaims Consultantto lead and manage claims preparation, assessment, and resolution on large-scale projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills who can independently deliver detailed and evidence-backed claims reports while mentoring junior team members. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex claims and supporting clients through negotiation, adjudication, and other dispute resolution processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice to clients on claims preparation, defence, and strategy.
  • Prepare detailed claims for additional time, costs, or contractual entitlements, ensuring clarity and compliance with contractual frameworks.
  • Lead the forensic analysis of project data to establish entitlement and quantify claims.
  • Collaborate with delay analysts and quantum experts to develop cohesive and robust claims submissions.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, adjudications, arbitrations, or mediations as required.
  • Mentor and manage junior claims consultants, providing guidance on best practices and professional development.
  • Stay abreast of relevant case law, industry standards, and advancements in construction contracts such as NEC, JCT, and FIDIC.
  • Drive business development efforts by fostering relationships with clients and identifying new opportunities for claims services.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in claims management and dispute resolution within the construction or engineering sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Professional membership such as MRICS, MCIArb, ICES, is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC3/4, JCT, and FIDIC.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing and presenting quantum, delay, and disruption claims.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams or mentoring junior professionals.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to assess and interpret complex project data.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience with claims and dispute resolution documentation.
  • Proven ability to deliver results independently, working effectively under tight deadlines.
