Job Title: Senior Civil and Structural Designer

Position Summary:
This position requires providing conceptual and detailed design of civil/structural systems and components used during project execution of Direct Reduction (DR) iron plants.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction to Designers and/or contract personnel assigned to the project team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Give direction to Designers and contract personnel.
- Perform computer aided modeling and drafting necessary to create a 3D model and 2D civil/structural drawings for the basic and detailed engineering of a client's DR plant.
- Travel to job sites to perform reviews of existing structures, layouts, etc. for use in developing future plans, proposals, etc.
- Travel on business trips and/or field assignments as required to carry out departmental tasks and functions.
- Perform checking of civil/structural drawings for consistency with company standards, conceptual ideas, design, sketches, etc.
- Assist Engineers by suggesting design changes that might improve the desired results of the design.
- Provide assistance to Mechanical Engineers and Designers in the layout of equipment, ducting, etc. with input for their structural support.
- Coordinate work on projects with outside engineering consultants.
- Work as a teammate with all company departments and employees in all assignments. Work toward building consensus on all assignments by finding solutions which meet the best interests of all parties involved.
Skills/Abilities:
Required:
- Be proficient in the use of 3D computer modeling skills using design software such as Aveva E3D and PDMS (or equivalent).
- Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD software and related Autodesk products.
- Ability to take conceptual designs, sketches and ideas from Engineers and develop the details necessary for a complete, engineered 3D model and 2D drawings capable of being used for purchasing, erection in the field, design analysis, etc.
- Knowledge of and experience with personal computer hardware/software.
- Ability to meet schedule and deliverable deadlines.
- Excellent technical writing and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Advanced 3D computer modeling skills using Aveva E3D and PDMS products.
- Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and developing lists for engineering.
Education and Experience:
- Associate Degree in civil and/or mechanical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in a technical environment, preferably related to heavy industrial facilities.
Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%, based on project demands).
