Job Description :

The Telecom Senior Cisco Voice Engineer is a technical leadership position responsible to perform various work functions in support of the Telecom team. This position will require an in-depth technical knowledge of phone systems to facilitate the installation and management of the CISCO VOIP and Legacy(Nortel) phone system and associated components. A working knowledge of telecommunication networks and their supporting systems is also required.In addition, this position will be involved in project tasks, and provide industry knowledge in performing basic and advanced tasks associated with telecom responsibilities. The Telecom Engineer will provide high-level input to any system architecture changes that includes proper documentation and facilitate training to peers. This role will be required to interact with customers and various internal/external organizations to ensure deliverables are met.

  • A shared responsibility for the oversight and overall health, stability, and maintenance of the County's telecommunications systems and team. This includes both the Avaya (Nortel) and the Cisco phone systems.
  • Assist Telecom Team Lead in coordinating vendors, maintenance, and upgrades to minimize downtime and/or impact on end users.
  • Proactively monitor and analyze system resources to ensure optimal performance and assist Telecom Team Lead in developing plans to accommodate capacity for future growth.
  • Perform routine systems tasks and resolve assigned Help Desk tickets in a manner consistent with service level guidelines and Cisco customer service expectations.
  • Interact with customers and establish customer relationships to gather and analyze customer needs, assess available resources, and determine optimal solutions.
  • Assist Telecom Lead in the management of all technological aspects of system and vendor products. Also, assist in recommendations on product/service selection and current system upgrades.
  • Assist Telecom Team Lead to train, educate, and mentor staff, as necessary.
  • Provide software-oriented administrative support on Cisco communication platforms by proactively working on Telecom Tickets for end-user-oriented break/fix repair, and move, add, change (MAC) requests.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, information technology, computer science, or a closely related field and two years of project management, engineering, information technology, computer science, or closely related experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of minimal experience as Cisco call manager/CUCM and Unity.
  • 3 years of minimal experience with Cisco UCCX and Calabrio.
  • 1 - 3 years of knowledge of CUBE or Gateway Troubleshooting and Configuration.
  • Technical skillsets to complete provisioning and system configurations.
  • Knowledge in various telecommunication systems and practices.
  • Knowledge of wiring standards, system paging standards, and installation practices.
  • Skill in the use and operation of test equipment and diagnostic software.
  • Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring, and cable.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Customer service experience.
