Job Title: Senior Scientist – LCMS/GCMS

Location: Farmingdale NY

Type: Contract (Full-Time) with benefits

About the Role:

This is a plug-and-play role supporting immediate project demands, with a focus on mass spectrometry (LCMS/GCMS). The ideal candidate will be comfortable stepping into a high-throughput lab environment, managing long instrument runs, and supporting junior staff while troubleshooting instrumentation issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform analytical testing using LCMS and/or GCMS
• Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex mass spectrometry instrumentation (LC, GC, MS)
• Operate under GLP/GMP or ISO lab standards, maintaining accurate records and data integrity
• Collaborate with other scientists to meet testing timelines and quality metrics
• Provide guidance and technical troubleshooting support to junior technicians
• Assist in optimizing methods, workflows, and instrument performance
• Flexibility to work longer instrument runs (12–15 hours) or evening/weekend shifts as needed
• Adhere to all safety and compliance protocols in a laboratory setting

Qualifications:

• 5+ years' hands-on experience with LCMS/GCMS, including method execution and troubleshooting
• Strong background in pesticide or food safety testing preferred
• B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related field (experience strongly outweighs education)
• Prior experience in high throughput testing environments and familiarity with mass spectrometry workflows
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced lab
• Comfortable with flexible schedules, including early start times and occasional weekends

Preferred Skills:

• Hands-on experience with GC or LC instrumentation for residue or pesticide testing. Familiarity with laboratory QA/QC procedures and documentation
• Knowledge of regulatory standards in food safety, EPA, or FDA guidelines

Schedule & Shift Details:

• Preferred shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Open to alternative shifts: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Must be open to weekend availability based on instrument schedules
