The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit.Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a Sr. Buyer toprocure goods and services to support manufacturing needs while managing cost and supply chain risk. This leader will be responsible for obtaining the most favorable cost and terms for assigned categories for a multi-facility food manufacturing organization with consideration to quality, service, and lead times. The Sr. Buyer also Manages RFx projects and makes sourcing recommendations. Provides advice and training to less experienced team membersat our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue Purchase Orders for raw materials and service needs based on approved requisitions, contractual agreements, or material requirements for finished goods and other business needs
  • Works collaboratively with multiple departments to Launch RFx projects (ingredients preferred) with suppliers and recommend sourcing decisions based on the best cost, quality, availability, and service.
  • Ensures inventory levels are optimized while managing cost by EOQs; Ensures suppliers provide appropriate documents (i.e. packing slip, BOL, COA) with shipments.
  • Works closely with other departments including Production, Materials Management, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Warehouse, and Accounting to find solutions to complex procurement issues
  • Analyze spend, commodity trends, industry/market updates and recommend ideas for cost savings opportunities and risk avoidance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • At least 5 years' procurement experience in a manufacturing environment and 2 years in the food industry preferred.
  • Professional certification (CPSM, CPM or other relevant certification) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, supply chain principles, and practices; RFx best practices; Requests for Quotes (RFQ), Request for Proposals (RFP), and Request for Information (RFI). Experience with ingredients preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Compensation:

The salary range is $84,959- $93,455, based on experience and qualifications.
