Senior Buyer/Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
  • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Assists in performing cost analyses and set appropriate benchmarks for spend categories.
  • Coordinates deliveries of goods and supplies as necessary.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and year over year savings across supply categories.
  • Researches and networks to discover viable suppliers; work with vendors to secure advantageous terms.
  • Collaborates with key persons to ensure clear communication of the specifications and expectations of the company.
  • Foresees trends and predict alterations in the negotiating ability of suppliers and clients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 plus years of experience in purchasing, supply chain or manufacturing
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Successful work experience in a procurement role, supervisor/management experience a plus.
  • Exceptional talent in vendor management, negotiating and networking.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in supply chain ERP systems i.e., SAP, Microsoft NAV/ Business Central, JD Edwards.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all professional levels.
  • Superior organizational & problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business partnering and influencing skills; must be able to work independently and exercise initiatives as appropriate.

Preferred Skills

  • CPP (Certified Purchasing Professional) or CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) a plus.
