Senior Business Manager

Reporting into: VP Director of Business Management

Location: New York, NY

Your Role:

As a Senior Business Manager, Production & Talent, you will be a partner to the agency producer from ballparking budgets to final delivery. Responsibilities include managing the overall production and budgets, vendor purchasing, advising on talent contracting, processing talent sessions (Print & SAG), Foreign talent negotiation & renewals, rights management, and coordination of client billing. You will also be the owner and record-keeper for each job, ensuring that the entirety of the job is following agency, client, and SAG-AFTRA protocols and guidelines; audit-proof; and complete for historical reference. You will be championing McCann sustainability & DEI initiatives in production and assist with production related reporting.

As a Senior Business Manager at McCann New York, you are a true partner to our client and agency team, ensuring that the agency and client interests are protected.

What You Do:

  • Support VP, Director of Business Management in responding to SAG claims and audits.
  • Train & support rest of BA dept on talent related matters as needed.
  • Partner with producer to ballpark production budgets, spec and bid it out, negotiate with vendors as needed, and generate estimates for client approval.
  • Review storyboards and advise producers and account on SAG/AFTRA/AFM Commercial Contract rules. Escalate interpretations of rules to VP, Director of Business Management as needed.
  • Flag IP licensing needs prior to production and assist with IP licensing requirements.
  • Troubleshoot new and unusual production scenarios, including innovation projects.
  • Vet all projects through client-assigned production consultants.
  • Generate and present production estimates for client approval.
  • Assist with completion of SAG contracts and generate non-union and photography talent contracts.
  • Approve SAG talent session payments and process all still photography talent payments.
  • Make sure all agency, client, and SAG/AFTRA guidelines and policies are adhered to.
  • Coordinate with third party talent payroll service for talent management support.
  • Prepare and execute vendor contracts and coordinate with legal for custom agreements.
  • Declare jobs for wrap insurance or event insurance coverage and ensure vendors adhere to IPG insurance requirements.
  • Manage vendor purchasing: Issue POs, approve invoices, and flag payment priorities with AP.
  • Collaborate with third party talent payroll vendor and agency producers to determine final edit categorization and confirm final cast classifications.
  • Coordinate with Client Finance to ensure clients are billed on time and request expedited payment terms when needed.
  • Support creator talent payment process.
  • Track production and talent costs incurred against the approved production budget and review/report overages as needed.
  • Help with production-related data reporting.
  • Implement McCann Sustainability & DEI initiatives in production.
  • Coordinate with all internal agency departments as needed.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SAG.
  • Strong knowledge of production and post-production industry.
  • Proven experience as a team player, clear communicator, problem solver, comfortable navigating uncomfortable situations.
  • SAP experience preferred.

Location:

McCann New York team members must reside in or be willing to relocate to the New York Tristate area unless otherwise agreed upon by their manager and McCann New York's Human Resources team. McCann New York is a hybrid workplace with three days in-office per week.

Salary Range:

Salary range: $95,000 - $120,000. Salary ranges depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; the associated discipline market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
