Job Description :

Hazen is seeking candidates for a Senior Associate position focused on structural and waterways engineering and project management. The candidate will be involved with a wide range of projects, including planning, design, permitting, and construction of structures in the ‘water space' (i.e., drinking water, wastewater, water resources, conveyance, canals, and ports). The candidate shall be capable of supervising junior staff and managing projects. Additionally, the candidate should be able to lead business development activities, including preparation of proposals and presentations.

The position will include client development, project management, technical leadership, and staff mentoring in the Northeast and Midwest, with primary focus on projects in Upstate NY and PA. Fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction may be required, with occasional travel.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • More than 15 years of structural design experience. Must have a Professional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to obtain one in the State of New York. Multiple state registrations are a plus.
  • Experience in analysis, design, and construction of environmental structures such as industrial buildings, pump stations, process basins, and treatment facilities. Leadership in structural design and construction administration for major projects involving upgrades to wastewater, drinking water, and reclaimed water treatment plants.
  • Proficiency in designing and constructing structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and aluminum, with knowledge of applicable building codes and standards including ACI, AISC, ASCE, and experience with structural analysis and design software.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work successfully in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Key role in significant infrastructure projects in the greater Buffalo area.
  • Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with a Structural Concentration) or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
