The Senior Associate Director of Advanced Simulation Instruction (SADASI) for the Liberty School of Aeronautics (LUSOA) is a primary instructor for all advanced aircraft instruction occurring in the advanced jet simulator. This role demands a high level of professional flight experience, particularly in multi-crew, high-performance turbine or jet aircraft, to ensure the delivery of realistic, industry-relevant training. The SADASI applies substantial real-world aviation experience to provide high-fidelity Crew Resource Management (CRM), simulator, and ground instruction in accordance with FAA regulations, Liberty University standards, and airline industry expectations. This position ensures sustainable training for all AVIA436 students each year. The SADASI schedules, maintains records, and ensures that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by each student in each course. Maintains a high level of proficiency in advanced flight instruction techniques, simulator operations, instructional methodologies, and remains current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in airline training environments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train and mentor upper-class students in accordance with course training outlines, ensure satisfactory progress, and oversee timely course completion. Coordinate closely with course professors to align simulator sessions with academic objectives and serve as a substitute instructor when necessary.
  • Create, update, and integrate real-world flight scenarios into weekly simulator sessions and course finals, enhancing the realism and instructional quality of the training program.
  • Maintain and update all simulator-related documentation, including QRHs, checklists, aircraft manuals, and the AVIA 436 training manual. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on all simulated aircraft profiles.
  • Ensure students are scheduled for the correct lessons in the appropriate training devices, and that all procedures meet course and institutional standards.
  • Work closely with the Director of Simulator Operations Technology to maintain optimal simulator performance. Monitor device conditions, report discrepancies, assist with maintenance tasks, and serve as a secondary SME for simulator technical operations.
  • Participate in continuing education, operations meetings, and instructor development sessions. Train new staff approved to use the advanced simulator and maintain clear, timely communication with supervisors regarding scheduling, availability, and simulator status.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Minimum Qualifications FAA Part 121 or 135 Flight Experience Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Flight Instructor rating preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in the aviation/aeronautics discipline
  • Experience in working with flight and maintenance simulator devices

WORKING CONDITIONS Work Environment Climate-controlled office/workshop setting that is well lit with a moderate to loud noise level depending on the activity. Simulator Bays may be dark and not well lit. Flight training occurs in small general aviation aircraft. Driving Requirements Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
