The Senior Aquatic Director provides overall direction, coordination, and success of YMCA Pool operations. What is needed for this job:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 3-5 years of experience with current ARC Lifeguard/Water Park, CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification, with 2 years of related experience
- 5+ years experience in fitness, retail, recreation management, or hospitality industries
- 5+ years experience managing 50+ team members
- 5+ years experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, revenue, and EBITDA budgets
- Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns
- Pursue CPO and applicable certifications related to your location within 6 months
- Ability to use water chemistry test kits
Responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership in delivering quality within the YMCA aquatic department
- Understanding branch revenue and program goals, and planning daily/weekly workloads to meet department, membership, and engagement goals
- Fostering a culture where teams love to work and members love to visit; recognizing member-centered behaviors and rewarding outstanding performance
- Creating an environment that values diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence
- Working a schedule aligned with guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Ensuring the swimming facility meets or exceeds aquatic safety standards
- Facilitating monthly in-service meetings for skill review
- Supervising staff, ensuring appropriate staffing, coordinating breaks, and monitoring staff performance and member service
- Developing high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness classes
- Ensuring safety and injury prevention by supervising the pool area and monitoring for signs of distress
