Job Description: Backend AI Engineer (LegalTech Startup)

Role Overview:We are seeking a talented Backend AI Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python development, hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), and a passion for solving complex problems in the LegalTech space. You'll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimizing the backend systems powering our AI-driven applications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain backend systems that support AI-driven legal applications.
- Work closely with LLMs to fine-tune, deploy, and integrate them into our platform.
- Design and optimize APIs to ensure efficient interaction between frontend and backend systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and legal experts, to identify and implement innovative solutions.
- Monitor and improve system performance, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and NLP technologies.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- AI/ML Expertise: Hands-on experience with large language models (e.g., OpenAI GPT, Cohere, or Anthropic) and familiarity with model fine-tuning, inference, and prompt engineering.
- Database Knowledge: Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Cloud & DevOps: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate ambiguous challenges and propose data-driven solutions.
- Teamwork: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to work onsite in a team-centric environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the LegalTech industry or a strong interest in legal systems and processes.
- Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) libraries like Hugging Face Transformers or spaCy.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and best practices for deploying AI models.
- Exposure to working with legal datasets and ensuring data privacy and compliance.
