ABOUT OUR CLIENT: MP's client is one of the largest independently owned insurance brokerage firms in the country providing a full range of employee benefits, compliance, and HR consulting services, along with retirement solutions for both the private and public sectors. The business was formed in 2008 and today serves over three million participants nationally in the K-12, Corporate and Government markets. WHO YOU ARE: An experienced Accountant that will be responsible for a set of journal entries, reconciliations and analysis reporting for several partner firms. Treasury functions including the review of cash postings, collections and cash forecasting.WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Senior Accountant will help our clients growing benefits and retirement practice. The position plays an important role in executing the accounting operations for processing journal entries and Month End close, including but not limited to the production of periodic financial reports, bank, balance sheet reconciliations and Treasury processes. The Senior Accountant will play an important and highly visible role in the ongoing financial reporting of existing firms and some exposure to newly acquired firms. These financial reporting responsibilities will require frequent interactions with personnel at the National Office and other Partner Firms. Responsibilities will include standard journal entries, account reconciliations, proper revenue recognition and treasury support including cash forecasting and collections.
- Month Close and Financial Reporting
- Working with the Accounting Manager, support the month end close process
- Work through a set of month end close journal entries with US based and Offshore Teams
- Assist with the preparation of all financial reports, prepare journal entries, balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Review bank activity to ensure all transactions have been posted before month end
- Analyze Accrued AR, Deferred and invoicing time to ensure proper revenue recognition
- Assist with AR collection efforts across partner firms
- Prepare cash forecast and coordinate cash sweeps to National Office
- Be an active member in the company's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting process
- Leadership & Teamwork
- Train and support team members working from the India Service Center
- Develop a strong working relationship with key staff in other departments
- Play a part in the short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives and procedures
- Maintain and complete SOP (standard operating procedures) documents
- Any other work assigned by Accounting Manager and Assistant Controller
- Compliance
- Support annual financial statement audit and tax reporting
- Assist with the financial reporting and annual audit of the group
- Prepare other annual filings as needed
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience
- Experience with ERP/accounting software; experience with Microsoft SL, Business Central and QuickBooks is a plus
- Experience in Financial Service or related industry
- Preference will be giving to candidates with Offshore entities experience
