POSITION SUMMARY

This position will play an integral role in the daily, weekly, and monthly activities in the accounting department. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining timely and accurate financial records. This position will assume ownership of a range of reconciliations, journal entries, month end close activities, and other special projects. The candidate must have a working knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices.

OBJECTIVES

• Maintain and reconcile all GL accounts including bank and credit card accounts
• Ensure all financial transactions are recorded timely and accurately
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Assist with review of financial statements and perform variance analysis
• Assist in preparation of tax filings
• Assist with special projects
• Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting processes
• Assist with external auditors' requests
• Assist with identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting

COMPETENCIES

• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Procedures (GAAP)
• Working knowledge of Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online
• Experience with larger accounting software (Netsuite, Dynamics, Great Plains, etc.)
• Proficient knowledge of entire MS Office Suite
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work with multiple legal entities
• Working knowledge of inventory and fixed asset accounting
• Exposure to revenue recognition policies
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance
• At least 3-5 years of experience in Accounting and Finance or related field
• 1-2 years of public accounting experience preferred
• Big 4 experience desired but not required
• Experience in ecommerce industry preferred
• ERP implementation experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
