Position Overview

I'm working with a growing company based in Melville, NY, who is looking to bring on a talented Accountant or Financial Analyst to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with 4+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, particularly in online sales or eCommerce. The role will focus on reconciliation of different online sales channels and will require strong expertise in Excel to handle large datasets and reporting needs. If you have experience with platforms like Shopify and Avalara, that's a big plus!

Key Responsibilities

As part of the finance team, your responsibilities will include:

• Reconciliation of online sales from various eCommerce platforms to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
• Performing data analysis and using Excel to manage and manipulate large datasets, create pivot tables, and support reporting.
• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and generating sales tax returns.
• Supporting the monthly closing process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Analyzing monthly results and helping prepare reports for management review.
• Collaborating with different departments to ensure timely and accurate data entry.
• Taking on special projects and providing ad-hoc financial analysis support.
• If you have exposure to Avalara or similar tax systems, you will assist in tax filings and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 4+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with a focus on reconciliations and data analysis.
• Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, data manipulation, reporting).
• Experience with eCommerce platforms like Shopify is a strong plus, especially if you've worked with online sales.
• Exposure to Avalara or similar sales tax systems is beneficial.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of management.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
