Office Location: Available for the Gastonia, NC location; Hybrid Option Projected Hiring Range: Depending on Experience Closing Date: Open Until FilledPrimary Purpose of Position: This is a professional level of accounting, working with the general ledger functions of the department utilizing existing software. Responsible for ensuring the agency is sufficiently insured in all aspects and meets all requirements of coverage as required by DMA and DHHS. Role and Responsibilities: 60%: General Ledger Reporting
- Prepare monthly dashboard for Finance committee/Board of Directors
- Assist with monthly Financial Reporting Template
- Prepare monthly FSR and State reports
- Track IPRS allocation letters and reporting requirements
- Prepare reports for any physical health requirements
- Prepare monthly crisis reports
- Quarterly Catawba ABC funds report
- Other reporting as needed
20%: Budget
- Prepare the annual administrative financial budget
- Work with department heads to determine needs for annual budget
- Prepare budget excel file for uploading to accounting system
- Prepare monthly excel reports for department heads to monitor budgetary compliance and identify potentially adverse trends.
- Post monthly budget revisions
10%: Auditing/Reporting
- Assist with annual audits as needed
10% Other applicable duties as assigned as well as
- Primary backup to the Staff Accountant as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices
- Knowledge of and ability to explain, and apply the provisions of the standardized accounting practices adopted by State Government
- Working knowledge of accounting software
- Knowledge of purchasing rules and regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
- High level of accounting skill
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to interpret and analyze accounting data and apply that analysis to the departmental or institutional needs.
- Determine compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of related contact agencies, departmental staff, and the general public
Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting and three (3) years of experience in business or governmental agency. Education and Experience Preferred: Dynamics Great Plains or Acumatica experience Licensure/Certification Requirements: NA
