Title: Senior Account Executive - Commercial Lines (supporting our Columbia, SC office)

Remote: ideal candidate would be near our Columbia, SC office | some travel required for client visitation Book Focus: General, Construction, Contractors Please note: If this position is posted as either fully remote and/or hybrid, in accordance with company policy, individuals residing within a 50-mile radius of a branch location may be required to work onsite in a hybrid capacity. About the Role: Responsible for the strategic coordination and execution of client marketing, servicing, risk management, and/or sales activities. Manage a book of business, increase account retention, and resolve complex customer service problems. Actively seek to grow IOA business by identifying and acting on sales opportunities, and serve as a resource to the account team and Producers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Competence: Maintain high technical competence and industry expertise.

  • Discretion and Judgment: Exercise discretion and independent judgment for beneficial outcomes.

  • Client Relationship Management: Manage client relationships, conduct meetings, prepare and present Account Summaries, recommend coverages, and negotiate/close new business and renewals.

  • Communication: Serve as a communication conduit between Producers and the account team.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provide support and develop solutions to client problems for the account team and Producers.

  • Team Leadership: Direct day-to-day activities and workflow of the account team, ensuring performance requirements and timelines are met.

  • Customer Service and Account Management: Manage account activities, policy administration, billing, claims, coverage analysis, contract review, policy forms and endorsements, audits, Certificates of Insurance, Evidences of Property, and cancellations/reinstatements.

  • Policy Management: Manage policy expirations and renewals, ensuring all policies are bound, billed, issued, and delivered accurately and on time.

  • New Business and Renewal Process: Conduct client research, gather underwriting information, perform loss run analysis, prepare submissions, evaluate and negotiate coverages and pricing, prepare and present proposals, bind coverage, and follow up for policy issuance.

  • Accounts Receivable: Monitor reports and take action on delinquent accounts, collecting outstanding balances.

  • System Maintenance: Maintain agency management systems and carrier/vendor platforms, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

  • Activity Monitoring: Monitor and maintain activity/suspense to ensure timely completion.

  • Service Excellence: Deliver excellent service, proactively anticipate needs, and respond quickly to service requests.

  • Policy Compliance: Stay updated on company policies and procedures.

  • Continuous Improvement: Seek and adopt best practices to improve individual and team performance.

  • Champion IOA Values: Demonstrate integrity and leadership.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • 10 years of industry experience: sales, marketing, or relationship management

  • Thorough knowledge of insurance brokerage and client needs

  • Required active Property & Casualty licensing

  • At least one professional designation (CIC or equivalent)

  • Comfortable meeting with clients; some travel required

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent organizational, communication, delegating, and customer advocacy skills

  • Ability to perform large work volumes with high accuracy.

  • PC proficiency, including knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Salary Range

The expected pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year, depending on experience, relevant skills, and geographic location.
