Job Description:
  • Performlinear and non-linear dynamic structural evaluation to predict system responses and resulting loads (and other similar analyses) for reactor systems and internals components to meet structural stress and fatigue criteria. Demonstrated understanding of the dynamic response of structures.
  • Creation and evaluation of analysis models using ANSYS Workbenchand APDL (Translate design information into finite element models).
  • Stress qualification to ASME Codes and Standards (Div 1 and Div 5).
  • Develop creative solutions and reduce analysis complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and 1st order engineering principles to establish and/or confirm expected performance.
  • Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
  • Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and departments necessary to complete assigned system design activities.
  • Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with Client engineering.
  • procedures. Analysis results are typically provided in an engineering report for use by external customers.
  • Review archive records and evaluate the impact of design/operational changes on the conclusions within those archive records.
  • Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline and budgeted hours.
  • Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activities. Identify and manage project execution risk.
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
  • Demonstrated ability and proficiency in using ANSYS for FEA.
  • Good understanding of dynamic analysis, stress analysis and ASME Codes and Standards, specifically ASME Div 1 and Div 5.
  • 5+ year experience performing mechanical components/parts analysis.
  • Ability to present analysis results in a clear, organized and concise manner.
Additional Desired Characteristics:
  • Project based work assignments with time and schedule constraints for work performed.
  • Engineer needs to be efficient and effective in assignments to meet scope, quality, schedule, and cost bases.
  • Master s Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
  • Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and utilize inventor to determine component dimensions, detailed features, interfaces, masses, stiffnesses, etc.
