As a Security Lieutenant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing security operations and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of detainees and the facility. Your responsibilities will include maintaining effective coordination in detainee supervision while preparing necessary records and reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and execution of policies and procedures governing the custody and security of detainees.
- Respond effectively to unexpected incidents, ensuring prompt assistance to detainees facing injury, illness, or emotional challenges.
- Foster a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and favorable behavior among detainees and staff.
- Lead and manage the performance of staff, including hiring, training, evaluations, promotions, and necessary disciplinary actions.
- Assign duties, review post orders, and ensure all emergency procedures are in place and staff are well-trained.
- Review disciplinary issues involving staff and detainees to maintain a standard of conduct.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess compliance with facility policies and procedures, evaluating staff effectiveness.
- Provide guidance on situational challenges, directing more complex issues to appropriate resources.
- Maintain daily logs and prepare various reports as directed by management.
- Ensure the facility meets its goals and compliance with all security rules and regulations.
- Oversee detainee work assignments, ensuring proper supervision and training.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support facility operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in behavioral sciences or correctional services is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a correctional environment, with at least one year in a supervisory role.
- Maturity, flexibility, and the ability to earn respect from both detainees and staff are essential.
- A valid driver's license and U.S. citizenship are required.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Residency in the U.S. or its Territories for three of the last five years is required.
