Job Summary

The Unarmed Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and property at Park Place Nursing Home. This role involves patrolling the facility, monitoring surveillance equipment, and enforcing rules and regulations to create a secure environment, particularly during the graveyard shift (Mon.- Fri - 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM and every other weekend). The Security Guard plays a key role in maintaining peace and addressing security concerns promptly.

Key Responsibilities

Security Patrols

• Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including hallways, entrances, exits, parking areas, and grounds.
• Ensure all areas are secured during the shift, checking for threats or hazards.
• Monitor and secure access points, ensuring proper locking and unauthorized entry prevention.

Monitoring and Surveillance

• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems for unusual activity or breaches.
• Respond promptly to alarms or disturbances.
• Communicate with the security team and management about incidents.

Resident & Staff Interaction

• Assist staff and residents as needed, especially during overnight hours.
• Control visitor access, ensuring policy adherence.
• Respond calmly to emergencies following protocols.

Incident Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain logs of activities, incidents, and observations.
• Complete incident and property inspection reports and submit to management.

Safety & Emergency Protocols

• Implement fire, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies, notifying services as needed.
• Identify and address safety hazards.

Enforcement of Policies

• Enforce facility policies on smoking, alcohol, and access.
• Maintain order and discipline, especially during off-hours.
• Engage with residents professionally and respectfully.

Emergency Equipment Checks

• Ensure emergency equipment is accessible and functional.
• Report malfunctions and coordinate repairs.

Combined Duties

• Monitor safety, support emergencies, and assist during overnight shifts.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in security or law enforcement preferred.
• Knowledge of security procedures and emergency protocols, especially in healthcare or senior care, is a plus.
• Certificate of completion in a Nursing Assistant course required; time will be provided to obtain it if offered.

• Physical stamina for patrols.

• Basic computer skills for logs and incident documentation.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods.

• Respond swiftly during emergencies.

Work Conditions

• Shift: Graveyard, Mon.- Fri. 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other weekend.
• Environment: Healthcare facility, outdoor grounds.
• May include weekends and holidays.

Compensation

The hourly rate is $21.00. The role is full-time, non-exempt, eligible for overtime according to law.
