Who are we?FSDB is a state public school available at no cost to eligible pre-K and K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind/visually impaired or deafblind, including boarding and transportation services. FSDB is nationally recognized for its comprehensive educational services, designed for the unique communication and accessibility needs of students.
What We're Looking ForFlorida School for the Deaf and the Blind is seeking a proven law enforcement leader to serve as its next Chief of Campus Police. The Chief of Campus Police is responsible for overseeing the professional and administrative functions of the FSDB Campus Police Department, including planning, organizing, and directing its operations and activities. The desired candidate will be an enthusiastic and committed professional dedicated to community-oriented policing strategies and have an outstanding ability to work with and develop teams.
How You Will Make An ImpactThis Business Services leadership position plans and directs the operation of the Campus Police Department, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of fiscal and human resources through a commitment to effective communication, quality standards, and compliance with policies, rules, and laws.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
QualificationsBachelor's Degree from an accredited university; five years' experience in law enforcement; three years' experience in supervision; current Florida Department of Law Enforcement certification.
PreferredMaster's Degree from an accredited university with an emphasis on law enforcement and public safety leadership; ten years' experience in law enforcement supervision.
Sign Language Requirements: Applicants who are selected for hire will be required to attain an Intermediate proficiency in sign language within four years of hire.
