Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.Individuals will be required to complete a pre-employment and any potential post-accident drug test as these positions are deemed safety sensitive. - Experience in the operation and servicing medium sized tractors with mowers and experience in roadway construction and pavement preservation activities is desirable.
Nature of Work Under general supervision, assists with maintenance, operating equipment, hand tools and mowing tractors while maintaining roadway infrastructure. Performs other duties as assigned. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace. Examples of Work
- General maintenance
- Operates medium sized tractors with disk mowers or batwing mowers
- Operates various hand tools and power hand tools
- Answers questions from the public
- Is familiar with operating power machinery
- Works as part of pavement preservation crew including patching and flagging
- Installs/maintains roadway signs, pavement markings, and temporary traffic control
- Cleans buildings, floors, bathrooms, sinks, etc.
- Maintains buildings, signs and fences on property, performing minor interior and exterior repair
- Maintains equipment and vehicles such as tractors, mowers, trucks, etc., changing oil, lubricating and making minor adjustments
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the operating characteristics of assigned equipment
- Knowledge of the work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned equipment and operations
- Knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in the operation of assigned equipment
- Knowledge of the maintenance requirements of assigned equipment
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate with park users
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to make minor operating adjustments and to recognize operating deficiencies in assigned equipment
