Position Type: Student Support Services/Social Worker Date Posted: 7/30/2025 Location: District Wide Date Available: 08/25/2025 Certified School Counselor - Mental Health RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Superintendent MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a master's degree in school counseling. Must have a certification in school counseling, all grades, issued by the Office of Educator Licensure and Effectiveness. Must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and have strong basic technology skills. Must have the ability to establish and maintain strong cooperative relationships with school leaders, students, families, and regional mental health partners. Knowledge of evidence-based supports for school-based mental health in a multi-tiered systems of support framework preferred. Experience in building a comprehensive school counseling program using the Kentucky Framework of Best Practices for School Counselors is highly desirable. Or Must have a degree in related field (psychology, social work, counseling) Can be licensed- Certified Social Worker (CSW) Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) . Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) will be considered if appropriate supervision is available in the district. Must have the ability to establish and maintain strong cooperative relationships with school leaders, students, families, and regional mental health partners.. Knowledge of evidence-based supports for school-based mental health in a multi-tiered systems of support framework preferred. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Will advocate for the mental health needs of all students by offering instruction that enhances awareness of mental health, appraisal and advice addressing social/emotional development; short-term counseling interventions; and referrals to community resources for long-term support.The school counselor will provide data-informed, universal and targeted learning experiences to develop the whole child in a diverse society. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Build and/or adhere to a Comprehensive School Counseling Program that is aligned with the American School Counselor Association National Model and the Kentucky Framework of Best Practices for School Counselors.
  • Deliver direct student services including classroom, small group, and individual counseling with students no less than 60% of the time while students are in session.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive school and community culture and climate that embraces cultural diversity and helps to promote all students' social/emotional development.
  • Collect data as specified in the performance measures in the school based mental health services grant with support from district coordinator
  • Collaborate with administrators and other certified mental health professionals on components of comprehensive school counseling in the district.
  • Participate in regional, state, and national professional learning opportunities.
  • Provide professional learning opportunities for the district on evidence based mental health supports.
